Dear EPS Families and Staff,

We want to update you on our work over the last 24 hours, and provide some important information and reminders.

DISTANCE LEARNING

Here in Edina many of you (and us) are used to the term e-Learning when we talk about at-home learning situations. The preparations we are making now, in the event that school closures continue beyond March 27, is defined by MDE as Distance Learning. It includes access to educational materials and daily interaction with their licensed  teacher(s). Our preparations for Distance Learning continues and information will be forthcoming.

TUESDAY, MARCH 17

Students and families may stop in at their schools to retrieve anything they may need should school closures be extended:  personal belongings, technology, learning materials, medicines and health-related equipment.

Please remember -- this should be a brief stop in, pick up and exit. We want to follow social distancing guidelines as much as possible, so we ask that you not linger longer than necessary.

Early Learning Center 

  • Pick up learning packets
  • Please come at the following times, if possible: Last names beginning with letters A-M, 8 - 11 a.m.; Last names beginning with letters N-Z, Noon - 3 p.m.

Elementary Families

  • Plan to pick up curricular materials, activity boards, math journals, personal items
  • Pick up medicines and health-related equipment from the Health Office
  • A quick visit to the Media Center to return and/or check out a book
  • A Chromebook if you have requested one via this Google Form
  • Check your lockers and desks
  • Please come on the following schedule, if possible: Last names beginning with letters A-M, 8 - 11 a.m.; Last names beginning with letters N-Z, Noon - 3 p.m.

Middle School Families

  • Plan to visit your school between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Watch for additional information to come from your principal.

Edina High School

  • Plan to stop in between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Bus transportation for EHS students will run tomorrow morning on regular routes Plan to hop on your bus at the usual time in the morning. You will have 30 minutes in the building to gather your materials and then buses will leave for the return ride home.
  • Parents of students who ride Special Education buses: You may pick up equipment and materials during the above designated time.
  • Watch for additional information to come from your principal.

***If you are unable to get to your student’s school tomorrow due to a lack of transportation, please indicate that on this Google Form and we will find an alternative way to get materials to you.

SCHOOL AGE CARE FOR HEALTH CARE & EMERGENCY WORKERS

Gov. Walz directed school districts to provide school age care for children (ages 4-12) of healthcare and emergency workers. EPS will provide care for children who are enrolled in the district and whose parents on this list of qualified workers.

Care will be provided from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, March 18 - Friday, March 20
  • Monday, March 23 - Friday, March 27

All families must register through the links below. Registration must be received by noon the day before the first day the child will attend, so that we can plan appropriate staffing.

  • Students who attend Countryside, Creek Valley, Highlands and Valley View should attend care at Highlands Elementary
  • Students who attend Concord, Cornelia, Normandale and South View should attend care at Concord Elementary

There is no cost for childcare services for children of emergency and healthcare workers at this time. You will be asked to show a badge or letter from your employer as proof of employment in the priority categories.

NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT

We are providing breakfasts and lunches for families who receive free and reduced price lunch benefits, and any child under age 18 who needs meal support. Curbside pick-up of bagged meals is every day, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the main doors of South View and Valley View Middle Schools. If you do not have transportation and need delivery of meals to your home, please complete this Google Form and someone will contact you.

SERVICES SUPPORT REQUEST

Please complete this Google form to request assistance with any of the following:

  • Technology (access to a Chromebook, specifically for Gr. 3-5)
  • Reliable internet access
  • Food delivery

COVID-19 CONCERNS

If you are concerned that you or a family member may have been exposed to COVID-19, you should contact the Minnesota Department of Health Hotline: 651-201-3920 (7 a.m.-7 p.m.)

District staff may not share private information about students, student’s family members, or other staff members’ health. Please refrain from contributing to hearsay and rumors, and remember that social media is often not an accurate source of information. Contact MDH if you have a concern about the local spread of the virus.
