Concord Loves to Read! February is I Love to Read Month

The Goal:  Our school-wide goal is that every student is forming a reading habit and is reading, or being read to, for 15-20 minutes a night.

What school events will we have?

  • Read for Beads-  As a school we will celebrate our at home reading by earning beads for reaching reading goals (Minutes, # of Books)

  • Bedtime stories will be posted on the website

  • Storytime from space

  • Reading recommendations will be on all lockers

  • Book swap- Look through your bookshelves and find books your are done reading.  Bring all books by Feb. 15. You get to bring home 1 book for every book your brought in.

  • All school read with your buddies and with PJ Day Thursday Feb. 28 1:45-2:15.

  • #CaughtReadingatConcord- Post fun photos of kids reading at home on twitter using this hashtag.

How can we support this at home?

  • Choose books that are at an appropriate reading level for your child.

  • Choose books that match your child’s likes and dislikes.

  • Keep plenty of reading materials in your home: books, magazines, newspapers,  and comic books

  • Read books online! Check out our Media Center website for online resources!

  • Check out Ms. Holland’s Reading Resources for Parents on Pinterest!

  • Read a recipe and cook something yummy together!

  • Be excited about reading with your child.  It’s contagious!
