Boys and Girls Teams 2nd at Lake Conference Championship
1/30/20: As one goes, so goes the other. That seems to be a general theme for the teams this year as the boys and girls Varsity teams both finished as runner-up in the Conference Championship race series at Buck Hill on Thursday.
The boys skied strong but just couldn’t overcome the depth of a strong Minnetonka team, finishing with a two race total of 557 to Minnetonka’s 597. Adam Berghult dominated both races in the series to successfully defend his title as the boys Lake Conference champion. Gavin Richards flexed a bit with a very impressive 5th place overall finish. Tanner Hopkins continued a strong season with an 8th place finish. Freshman Reid Sprenkle continued to dazzle as well with his 11th place finish. The team continues to ski strong and heads into Sections with confidence.
The girls team finished 2nd place overall in the championship series with 562 team points, behind rival Minnetonka’s 585 points. However, the real story was Ali Anselmo’s blazing speed which earned her the girls Lake Conference championship. Sophie Shuster also proved impressive as she rocketed into 5th place overall finish. Both Ali and Sophie have become strong forces for teams to contend with. Anna Busyn powered her way into the top 10 with a solid 9th place finish. Elsie Engman (11th place),
Michelle Andruss (17th), and Allie Hoy (18th) showed the strength and depth as they rounded out the Hornets in the top 20. The girls team is fun and incredibly talented…can’t wait to see how they perform at Sections!
Way to go, Hornets!
Teams from Eden Prairie, Hopkins, Minnetonka, Orono, and Wayzata competed in this Varsity race series.
