Team Competes During Marathon Long Day Invite at Welch

1/11/19 - The moon was out when we departed EHS yesterday morning. It was out again when we returned late last night.  8 Varsity Boys and Girls and 6 JV Boys and Girls competed against 22 other teams at the Welch Invite on Friday.  It was MUCH longer day than any of us planned and overall results weren't what we'd hoped for as consistency remains an issue across the board.  Both the Boys and Girls Varsity Teams finished in 5th place.   The JV Girls finished 4th, just 6 points off the podium.  The JV Boys team is currently listed as finishing 8th, however, there is an error in the results.  Connor’s first run time is incorrectly listed as a DQ.  This will impact his overall finish as well as the team’s overall finish.  Corrected results were requested.

Although the team outcomes weren't what we were expected, we learned quite a bit, which is part of the goal, and we had some great individual results.

On a technical hill with firm snow that ate up quite a few racers, Adam just killed it yesterday finishing 1st overall varsity boys.  Despite having some issues out of the start on his 2nd run, Carl also smoked the course and finished 7th overall.   For the varsity girls, Ali Anselmo led the way as she ripped down the hill to finish in 9th.  Finishing just behind her and fueled by a solid 2nd run, was Ilia in 12th.  Caroline also had two strong runs to finish 15th overall.   The boys and girls fields each consisted of approximately 140 racers.

For the JV teams, Michelle and Lily Mrachek combined to finish 4th and 5th overall, respectively.  Once his result is correct, Connor Killilea will be the top boys finisher in 35th place or so.

The team very much appreciates the parent’s efforts to get the tent set up and provide the team with food for what turned in an incredibly loooong day.
