Varsity Boys Win Lake Conference Championship; Girls Finish 3rd

2/1/18:  The boys and girls Varsity teams finished the Conference Championship race series at Buck Hill on Thursday with the boys team earning the overall Lake Conference title.

The boys won the conference title with 541 overall points.  Minnetonka was second with 533 total points.  Carl Berghult’s two rock solid races earned him the overall boys individual title.  Chris Reichling, Rémi Arnaud, and Gavin Richards, and Tanner Hopkins showed our depth with their respective 4th, 7th, 8th, and 10th place finishes!  Despite having issues in the second race, Soren Lindquist was still able to put together a 17th place overall finish for the series to round out our top 20 finishers.  Anytime a team is able to place 5 skiers in the top 10, especially against teams with depth like Minnetonka, they’re going to be awfully difficult to beat; this team is strong!

The girls team finished 3rd place overall in the championship series with 428 team points, behind Minnetonka (511 points) and Eden Prairie (458 points), respectively.   Haley Uterdorfer’s blazing speed earned her a 2nd place overall finish.  Lily Cushman turned up the heat with her 5th place overall finish and Caroline Sprenkle’s 9th place finish provided the team with another top 10 finisher.  Allie Hoy‘s 20th place finish rounded out the Hornets in the top 20.  The girls team is awesome and continues to display their talent with 3 skiers in the top 10!

Way to go, Hornets!  Proud of you all but our work is not done…bring on Sections next week!

Teams from Eden Prairie, Hopkins, Minnetonka, Orono, and Wayzata competed in this Varsity race series.

When calculating Lake Conference Championship results, only teams/skiers from Edina, Eden Prairie, Hopkins, Minnetonka, and Wayzata are scored.
