Alpine Teams Off to a Strong Start in Afton

12/19/17: The boys and girls Varsity alpine teams kicked off the season with strong performances at Afton Alps.

For the second year in a row, Chris Reichling led the way for the Hornets at Afton with his 1st place overall finish!  Carl Berghult helped push the pace as well, finishing in 2nd.  However, the boys team was edged out by Minnetonka, 425 to 419.  Rémi Arnaud and Soren Lindquist skied into the top 10 with 7th and 10th place finishes, respectively.
Our girls team put the others on notice that they will be contenders this season.  Haley Utendorfer set the pace with her 1st place overall finish.  Caroline Spenkle's strong performance earned her a 10th place finish.  As a team, the girls skied to a second place finish behind Minnetonka, 418 to 355.
In addition to Edina, the season opener featured Lake Conference teams from Minnetonka, Eden Prairie, Wayzata, Hopkins, and Orono.
