Jason Potts Named Edina High School Head Football Coach

EDINA, Minn. – Edina High School announces the hiring of Jason Potts to the position of Head Football Coach.

“I am honored and extremely excited to be the new Head Football Coach at Edina High School. This is a prestigious place that shows a booming commitment from the community, parents, staff, administration, and players. I can’t wait to get started with all the stakeholders and lead a program that focuses not only on winning games, but player development and growth. It’s my goal to help young people pursue their greatest potential and become better people in the process. I value the memories I have growing up in a football program and want to provide the same life shaping experiences I had as a young man. Go Hornets!”

Jason comes to Edina most recently from Robbinsdale Armstrong High School as the Offensive Coordinator for the last 6 seasons, he helped lead a team to the only undefeated season in school history (50 years). Potts’ offense averaged 30 points per game and helped a program win more games in his first 3 seasons than the previous 10 seasons combined, including District Champions three years in a row. Jason also brings college coaching experience as the Wide Receivers coach at Augsburg University. Jason grew up in Plymouth and graduated from Robbinsdale Armstrong High School as a two-sport captain in football and baseball. During his senior year he led both programs to the state tournament. He then went on to play running back for Augsburg University. During his senior seasons he helped his team become nationally ranked (#25). Jason currently lives in Crystal, Minnesota with his wife Angie, and two girls Lila (4) and Avery (2).

“I am pleased to add Jason Potts to our head coaching staff at Edina,” said EHS Assistant Principal/Activities Director Troy Stein. “Jason has a proven record of building strong relationships, sharing his passion for coaching, and building a program of growth while competing at a high level. He has demonstrated a commitment to a student-centered focus of excellence. Jason has knowledge, passion and cares deeply about the development of all our student-athletes.
