Artists Among Us
“She turned me into an artist!”
Award-winning local art instructor, Vanessa Merry, is brushing up adult students with inspiration and confidence in a variety of art class offerings this Spring through Edina Community Ed includin Watercolor Landscape Painting and Pet Portrait Painting.
At the age of eighteen, Vanessa moved to Florence, Italy, to study the methods of the great masters in painting, drawing, and printmaking at Palazzo Spinelli. From there, she landed at the University of Minnesota, graduating with a degree in Visual Arts and Art History. She continues to be actively involved in the Twin Cities art scene, including our very own Edina Community Education classrooms.
Take it from a recent class participant, who says: "This was a wonderful class! Vanessa was a great instructor - she turned me into an artist! Having the supplies included, a great instructor and an awesome community school made this a must-do class! Thanks, Community Ed!!"

Let loose your inner watercolor artist! Step-by-step, students learn how to paint quick and easy beautiful landscapes using watercolors, often surprising themselves with the ease of capturing the atmosphere of a scene on the easel.
Pet Portrait Painting
Saturday, May 19 12-3 pm, ECC Room 170, One Session ($45)
Students paint their own custom portrait of their furry loved one, whether its a dog, cat, horse or hamster, for a take-home art piece.
