The practice of Yoga includes breath control, simple meditation, and specific bodily postures for health and relaxation. Each year, our 8th grade middle school students cap off their yoga unit with a visit from our Curriculum Resources Program volunteer Laurie LoPesio. Laurie has been teaching yoga through Edina Adult Community Education since 2014, and she began volunteering for Edina Public Schools during the 2014-2015 school year. Lauirie is a Yoga Therapist at TRIA Orthopedics as well as the American Viniyoga Institute, and she is certified as both a yoga teacher and therapist. The students look forward to her classes because she makes the experience fun and challenging for all. “Sharing the effective, healing, self-empowering and transformative experiences of yoga with those who seek leaves me feeling exactly the way I want to at the end of the work day." says Laurie. Laurie has been practicing yoga for over 18 years, and she loves to share her evolving passion for yoga with others.
