2021 Graduation Information

Mariucci Arena at the University of Minnesota
With the governor’s announcement last week that most Covid restrictions are being allowed to expire on May 28, we learned that we now are able to bring the entire senior class together for one graduation ceremony at Mariucci Arena on June 7 at 7:00 PM. Additionally, there will be no limit on the number of guests who can attend to celebrate the Class of 2021. Lets GO!!
The ceremony will be similar to those prior to the pandemic with a few exceptions per University of Minnesota guidance. All graduates and guests will need to wear a mask while inside the arena, the ceremony will be limited to approximately 90 minutes and music ensembles will be limited in size. Students will receive further information at our class meeting on May 28th and families can expect additional communication about graduation as we approach June 7th.
While we would love to have all of our seniors participate in graduation, we understand that some of our students and families may be uncomfortable coming together at Mariucci Arena at this time. Those who choose not to participate at Mariucci are encouraged to watch the live stream of the event. The link to the livestream will be shared in the days prior to graduation.
Also, students who wish to opt out of the EHS commencement at Mariucci on June 7 are invited to come to EHS at 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 6. Students will be able to hear a few comments from Principal Beaton and receive their diploma cover at Edina High School.
For our planning purposes we need families to let us know their preference in advance of June 7th. If you prefer NOT to participate in the commencement at Mariucci for health and safety reasons, please complete the form below no later than Sunday, May 16. We are asking students/families to weigh this choice carefully as it will not be possible to add students to the live Mariucci ceremony at the last minute.
Here we go Hornets. So excited to have you come together as a class and walk the stage in a few short weeks. We are so proud of you!
In addition, we have plans to gather the entire Class of 2021 for a photo at Kuhlman Field the day before commencement, Sunday, June 6. Click here for details.
We are so proud of this year’s graduating class -- of the resilience and the fortitude they displayed as the pandemic caused plans and dreams for their senior year to dramatically change. And while they have demonstrated strength, we know it has not been easy. They deserve our admiration for all that they accomplished academically and personally, and we look forward to celebrating the Class of 2021!
