District announces new principal for Concord Elementary
May 23, 2019 -- Edina Public Schools is pleased to announce the hiring of Paul Domer as the next principal at Concord Elementary School.
Domer brings 11 years of experience in elementary school leadership. He has been principal at Eisenhower Elementary and XinXing Academy, in the Hopkins school district, since 2014. He was assistant principal at those schools for four years prior. Domer also served as dean of students at Valley View Elementary in Bloomington for two years. He began his career in education as a teacher for seven years, of grades 3-5 in the Columbia Heights and Hopkins districts.
Under his leadership, Domer’s schools experienced achievement gap reduction and MCA improvements. Both Eisenhower and XinXing were recognized for above average achievement gap reduction by the Minnesota Department of Education, and XinXing has performed in the top 25 of all elementary schools for the past two years. He has served on district committees including the superintendent’s cabinet, staff development, assessment, equity, facilities and crisis management. He also established a partner school relationship and exchange program with a school in Shanghai.
Domer holds a bachelor’s degree in child psychology from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, teacher certification from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a master’s and principal licensure from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
"I feel incredibly fortunate and excited to join the Concord Elementary community. I could tell immediately how special this school is to the students, families, and teachers,” Domer said. “The feeling in the building is so positive and vibrant, and I promise to carry on the great work from the last two years to keep it that way.
“I also look forward to supporting personalized learning for all Concord students. It is such a key framework for preparing our kids for the future,” he said. “But most of all, I can't wait to meet everyone in the community, start building strong relationships, and getting started on this great work with a great teaching staff!"
Domer replaces Susie Prather, who is leaving the district at the end of the school year. He will begin his duties in Edina on July 1.
