EHS students receive state awards for computing

March 13, 2019 –Three Edina High School (EHS) students have received Aspiration in Computing (AiC) awards presented by the National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT). These students will receive scholarship opportunities, entry to peer-network of technical women in the NCWIT AiC community, an engraved award, and various other prizes.

The NCWIT for AiC honors young women in grades 9-12 who are active and interested in computing technology, and encourages them to purse their passions. The recipients of the awards include Annie Snyder, senior, who received a National Honorable Mention and a Minnesota Affiliate Award; Grace Bowe, junior, who received a Minnesota Affiliate Award; and Quinn Cowing, junior, who received a Minnesota Affiliate Honorable Mention.

Other notable awards were the National Computing Certificate of Distinction, which EHS juniors Bella Boeckenstedt, Sofie Shand, and Maggie Tian, each received; and the Minnesota Affiliate Rising Star Award, which sophomore Sarah Swann received.

Students are selected for AiC awards based on demonstrated interest and achievements in computing, proven leadership ability, academic performance, and plans for post-secondary education.
