  • Valley View 8th grader wins criminal justice reform competition

    Mar. 2, 2021 - Devarsh Borah, an eighth grader at Valley View Middle School (VVMS), took first place in the middle school division with his video submission for the Minnesota Urban Debate League and Star Tribune-sponsored essay/video competition on criminal justice reform.

  • Board approves May 11 vote on tech levy and bond issue

    Feb. 17, 2021 - At a special meeting on Feb. 16, the Edina School Board approved ballot language and the date for a 2021 technology levy and bond issue. On May 11, voters will be asked to consider a 10-year, $7M technology levy to replace the current expiring levy, along with a $7M bond issue for expansion of bus garage facilities and traffic control improvements at two schools.

    Feb. 11, 2021 – Twenty-one Edina Latin students participated in the annual Ludi Romani State Latin Competition on January 16 . The students represented Valley View Middle School and Edina High School.

  • Superintendent Schultz announces retirement

    Feb. 5, 2021 - Superintendent Dr. John Schultz has announced his intent to retire at the end of the 2020-21 school year. Schultz joined Edina in July 2017. His retirement concludes a 35-year career in K-12 education.

  • Seven seniors named candidates for U.S. Presidential Scholars Program

    Feb. 1, 2021 - Seven Edina High School seniors have been identified as candidates for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. These students were identified by their outstanding performance on the ACT and are now eligible to submit applications to continue on to the semifinalist stage.

    Jan. 25, 2021 - Edina Public Schools is pleased to announce the hiring of Dolores “Dolly” Bina as Assistant Human Resources Director. Bina brings 15 years of experience in all facets of human resources management, as well as prior school business operations experience.

  • Valley View gym named in honor of Manderfeld

    Dec. 15, 2020 - The Edina School Board approved the naming of a gymnasium in honor of retiring administrator Mary Manderfeld at last night’s meeting. The Valley View Middle School south gym is now the Mary Manderfeld Gymnasium.

  • Director of DMTS honored with IMS Global Leadership Award

    Nov. 12, 2020 – Steve Buettner, director of District Media and Technology Services for Edina Public Schools, will receive the 2019 IMS Global Leadership Award on Monday, November 16. This award recognizes IMS Global members who have gone above and beyond in displaying leadership.

  • EHS writers and publication among winners in Gold Medallion contest

    Oct. 29, 2020 – Four Edina High School students received recognition from the Minnesota High School Press Association for their stories featured in the Zephyrus student news publication. In addition to individual awards, the EHS yearbook Whigrean received the MHSPA Gold Medallion Award, the highest award given to a Minnesota high school publication.

  • USDA extends free meals for students through end of school year

    Oct. 20, 2020 - The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced that the free meals program for students has been extended through June 30, 2021. It is part of the USDA’s commitment to ensuring access to nutritious food for school children during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Additional solar projects capture savings, educational opportunity

    Sept. 28, 2020 - Edina Public Schools has 1,684 more reasons to smile on sunny days. That’s the number of solar panels installed at three District sites over the past two months. The District expects to dramatically increase its savings in electricity costs -- savings that will continue to increase over time.
