  • EHS grads post higher ACT scores in all subject areas

    Oct. 22, 2019 - ACT test-takers in Edina High School’s Class of 2019, posted higher average scores than previous years in all subjects, according to the 2019 ACT College Readiness Report. Average scores in the English and Reading tests are the highest for EHS in the past five years.

  • French government recognizes Normandale principal’s devotion to language, culture

    Oct. 10, 2019 – Chris Holden’s ability to spark learners has not gone unnoticed. During a school assembly in September, Holden was honored as a Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques (Knight of the Order of Academic Palms) by the Consul General of France in Chicago.

  • Quality seal from French Ministry awarded to Normandale Elementary

    Oct. 10, 2019 – Edina Public Schools is pleased to announce Normandale Elementary has received LabelFrancÉducation, a quality seal granted by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Education to foreign schools promoting French dual-language programs of very high quality. LabelFrancÉducation has been awarded to 285 school in 53 countries. Normandale Elementary is the only school in Minnesota to receive this award.

  • Check your email for Calendar Survey

    Oct. 8, 2019 - An Academic Calendar Preferences Survey has been sent, via email, to all district parents and employees as the calendar planning process begins. A Calendar Committee comprised of district parents, staff and administrators, is working to create academic calendars for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school years.

  • Joint concert at EHS will feature 25 steel drums

    Sept. 26, 2019 - Thirty members of the Rising Stars group will visit Minnesota exclusively, on a rare tour to the U.S., because of Edina’s unique relationship with them. On Monday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m., the steel drum instrumentalists will perform in a joint concert that will feature more than 25 steel drums. The Rising Stars will share the stage with the Edina Concert Band and Concert Orchestra at Fick Auditorium.

  • Board seeks stakeholder input on draft strategic plan

    Sept. 12, 2019 - After months of work, the Edina School Board is ready to share a draft of the next strategic plan for Edina Public Schools in a series of invitation and open stakeholder meetings, and an online feedback form. The Board is expected to approve the Draft 2020-2025 Strategic Plan at the Sept. 16 regular meeting.

  • Student artist’s artwork will become public sculpture

    Sept. 12, 2019 - Across the district, hundreds of elementary student participants entered the “Better Together” student sculpture competition, hosted by the Edina Arts and Culture Commission and the Edina Community Foundation. This competition involved student creating 3-D model of a sculpture, known as a “maquette,” to represent what “Better Together” means to them.

  • MCAs show significant increase in high school science; steady scores in math, reading

    Aug. 29, 2019 - This year’s MCA science scores for Edina High School are the highest ever and while teachers and administrators are very pleased, they are not completely surprised. They believe the more than 20 point increase over last year’s proficiency rate is the culmination of years of work by the EHS biology teachers and a unique opportunity presented to students.

  • Awards luncheon honors staff milestones

    Aug. 23, 2019 - Edina Public Schools recognized staff members at an awards luncheon Thursday, Aug. 22 at Edina High School. Included in the luncheon were bus drivers who reached milestone years of safe bus driving, staff with 25 years of service to EPS, and staff achieving tenure.

  • District welcomes new faces for new school year; hiring continues

    July 30, 2019 - A new school year means many new faces in Edina Public Schools. So far, approximately 40 new teachers and staff have been hired for positions throughout the district and the hiring will continue through August for a variety of open positions.

  • EPS introduces e-Learning Days for school closures

    July 26, 2019 - Edina Public Schools will implement e-Learning Days beginning in the 2019-2020 school year to ensure continuity of learning despite school cancellation. Specifically, EPS will begin to take advantage of 2017 Legislation that amended the Length of School Year; Hours of Instruction to include the option of e-Learning days due to inclement weather. The School Board approved the district’s e-Learning Day plan in July.

  • Filing window for School Board candidates is July 30 through Aug. 13

    July 26, 2019 - The filing period for Edina School Board candidates is July 30 through Aug. 13. An Affidavit of Candidacy must be filed at the Edina Public Schools District Office within that period of time. Voters in the Edina school district will elect three members to the School Board this fall.
