Working with Our Community to Guide District Priorities

District committees and councils serve as advisory groups that help inform district decisions. Through shared input, feedback, and perspective, district leadership gains a deeper understanding of the needs and priorities of our community.

The involvement of parents, caregivers, students, staff, and community members ensures a variety of voices are represented, strengthening our schools and supporting thoughtful conversations around district initiatives.

American Indian Parent Advisory Committee

Purpose

The American Indian Parent Advisory Committee (AIPAC) is a dedicated group of parents, grandparents, and caregivers of American Indian children. High school students are also encouraged to participate.

Community Education and Strategic Partnerships Advisory Council

Purpose

To contribute to the Edina Public Schools' vision and mission by focusing on healthy youth development and meaningful family and community engagement.

Comprehensive Achievement and Civic Readiness Committee

Purpose

Advises and assists the district in the implementation of the system accountability and continuous improvement process regarding curriculum, assessment, staff development, and instruction.

Edina Parent Leadership Council

Purpose

To promote understanding of district-wide issues that relate to the education and welfare of students in the Edina ISD 273 District.

Membership

Membership includes leadership representatives of individual school parent organizations as well as the Edina Family Center, Parent Communication Network, Edina Community Education Services, and the Edina Education Fund.

Go Green Advisory Committee

Purpose

Promotes sustainable environmental and energy conservation initiatives by providing information and support for schools and programs in the district.

Legislative Action Committee

Purpose

The Legislative Action Committee (LAC) is a non-partisan group focused on monitoring and engaging in issues that impact education across Minnesota and within Edina Public Schools.

Special Education Advisory Council

Purpose

Provides input, support, and advice to district administration on topics related to special education services and supports, including programming, staff training, and parent education.

Meetings

The group typically meets on the fourth Thursday of the month from 6-8 p.m. at the Edina Community Center.

Student Activity Advisory Committee

Purpose

Advises administration on student participation in athletics, performing arts, and academic organizations, including lettering criteria, pepfest policies, middle school student participation on varsity athletic teams, and appeals on student suspensions from athletics and arts.

Student Wellness Committee

Purpose

Provides insight, support, and advice to address behavioral health, nutrition, staff and student wellness, and chemical use/abuse problems within the district and community; assists in the promotion of prevention strategies.

Talent Development Advisory Council

Purpose

To act as an advisory group to the district on behalf of students receiving Talent Development services. The Advisory Council will work toward the district's mission of "delivering educational excellence and preparing all students to realize their full potential” as it applies to students and their families.

Meetings

The group typically meets three times throughout the school year from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Edina Community Center.
