Students Arya Mirza, Ziyan Ishani, Ananth Veluvali, Jack Meagher, Anasophia Godinez, and Andy Jennen (pictured left to right) presented their ideas to the sharks at the second annual Edina Shark Tank. Mirza, Ishani, and Veluvali were named Shark Tank Champion for their pitch, Polus Consulting, a virtual college assistant aiding high schoolers across the country during their college application process.

FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC)

Edina FTC Robotics is a group of competition teams that participate in FIRST Tech Challenge, a worldwide robotics competition that includes writing, presenting, and business skills. Guided by parent and community mentors, students work with a team of 6-10 students for four months (Aug. - Nov.) to build a robot that will compete in at least two tournaments (Mid-Nov. until Mid-Jan.), with the possibility of State (Feb.) and Worlds (April).

We have four levels of participation to fit many different schedules. No experience necessary. High school participants who have completed one year of FTC and contributed significantly to their team may be invited to join Edina's Hall of Fame FRC team #1816 The Green Machine.

Teams are formed in early August and FIRST registration happens once teams are assigned. Meetings begin in mid-August.

FIRST Robotics (FRC)

The Green Machine is the Varsity level FIRST Robotics Competition team at EHS. All students on the team have completed at least one full season on an FTC team. The team meets year- round to work on community outreach, fundraising, team building, and core values, in addition to designing, building, programming, and competing an excellent robot. It is a Varsity MSHSL team with a year-round time commitment that is comparable to other Varsity sports.

Students must first have a full season on an FTC team. Students move up to Varsity upon recommendation by FTC advisor Ms. Ging Wiandt and other FTC team mentors.

STEAM Clubs at EHS

Video Game Development

This club focuses on developing video games using the Unity 3D game engine. We will cover a variety of topics, such as graphics and programming. After we learn how to do it, we will start making video games and releasing them to the public.

Women in STEM

Women in STEM is a student led club that is designed to inspire young women who range from having a slight interest in science to loving it! We will have presentations from influential women in STEM, opportunities for our future, and conduct fun experiments.

Math Team

The EHS Edina Math Team currently includes 7 of the top 50 students in the state. Students have the opportunity to participate in the state tournament as a team or to compete in an individual invitational event at the state level. Last year, the team finished in 2nd place at the state tournament!

Science Club

Science Club likes to do all the fun, hands-on science experiments you wish you did in school. We make ice cream with liquid nitrogen, play with dry ice, make slime, grow crystals, etch metals, and so much more! Join us for fun-filled science demos and make-and-takes.

Architecture, Construction, & Engineering

The ACE Club will begin this year by designing a land bridge. We will then have the opportunity to present it in a competition at the end of the year with other schools who participate in this program.
