If you have a child who turns five on or before September 1, 2026, your child is eligible to enroll in Kindergarten for the fall of 2026. Welcome to the Edina Public Schools family! We are excited to welcome your child to the Class of 2039!

Online choice forms are available – Friday, November 7
Online choice forms deadline – Sunday, January 4, 2026 by 11:59 p.m.
Lottery results emailed to homes – Friday, January 9, 2026
Enrollment Window – Monday, January 12 through Friday, January 23, 2026 at 4 p.m.

Early Childhood Screening

Early Childhood Screening is required by the state of Minnesota before your child enters kindergarten. Screening can be conducted as young as 3 years old and provides an overall check of your child's development. Screening is free and available to students whether or not they attend EPS.

Immunizations

Before starting kindergarten, students need to submit a record showing compliance with 5 different immunizations: HepB, DTaP, Polio, MMR, and Varicella, or a legal exemption to the immunization requirements.

Neighborhood Schools

FIND YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOL

EPS Neighborhood Schools consist of Concord, Cornelia, Countryside, Creek Valley, and Highlands. Each of our five neighborhood elementary schools provides a personalized learning experience for students K-5 and has strong interventions and extensions to meet individual needs. Each site offers students creative and innovative opportunities to learn core standards, as well as to grow personally in understanding themselves and how they learn best. We work to engage all students in the process of learning by having high expectations for all and providing support that helps students achieve at their highest potential.

Continuous Progress

The Highlands Continuous Progress (CP) is a districtwide Edina Choice Program that offers multi-grade classrooms. In one classroom, students in 2^nd and 3^rd grade will be together. In another classroom, students in 4^th and 5^th grade will be together. The two classes together are known as a "family". Students stay in their "family" for all four years with the same two teachers. This structure promotes student, parent and teacher relationships focusing on the growth and development of the whole child. Additionally, this structure provides ample opportunities for leadership opportunities, self advocacy, multi-age activities and parent involvement.

Continuous Progress is a districtwide Edina Choice Program. If you would like to enroll your child, you must complete the Kindergarten Choice Program Form. Completion of the preference form does not guarantee placement in the program. Enrollment in Edina Choice Programs is determined by lottery.

Spanish Dual Language at Countryside

All families are invited to consider a bilingual educational experience for their child through the Countryside Spanish Dual Language Program. EPS is working to build a program with both native Spanish speakers and native English speakers, so students have the ability to learn both languages together. Studies show students in two-way language programs demonstrate faster acquisition of languages, support one another in their learning, and experience higher academic achievement.

French Immersion at Normandale

Normandale French Immersion is a districtwide Edina Choice Program that immerses students in a second language while learning Math, Science, Reading, Writing and other curricular areas. Because of the advancing skill level, entrance is most successful in kindergarten. Students at Normandale are also a part of a larger, international community. Over the years our staff has represented many French-speaking cultures, including France, Canada, Belgium, Switzerland, and Senegal.
