What are the chances of being approved for open enrollment?
Approval depends on available space in our schools, which can change each year. If more students apply than there are spots, your child will be placed on a waiting list for the next enrollment opportunity.
Please review Policy 510 for additional information on admissions. You can find this policy on the District Policy Manual page.
How are open enrollment applications approved?
Open Enrollment applications are approved based on available space. Priority is given in the following order:
- Currently enrolled (K-12) students
- Intra-district transfer requests
- Staff
- Siblings
- Students who are residents of the City of Edina
- Integration and Achievement program students
- Open Enrollment applicants
Applications are reviewed individually by grade, not by family. This means that not all students in the same family may be approved.
The Open Enrollment process follows the Minnesota Department of Education Enrollment Options Program (Minnesota Statute § 124D.03) and our school board policy.
