Superintendent

Welcome to Edina Public Schools! It’s a privilege to serve a school community that is deeply committed to excellence, equity, and innovation.

After more than 30 years in public education — including 15 as a superintendent — I was drawn out of retirement because of Edina’s strong sense of purpose and the opportunity to serve alongside such dedicated educators and families.

My wife and I recently moved to Edina, but my ties to the city and district go back decades. I’ve worked closely with former superintendents through my leadership roles in MASA and AASA, collaborated with the district while serving as the Assistant Commissioner of Education at the MN Department of Education, and remained connected to the community through family and professional relationships.

As interim superintendent, I see my role as twofold: to provide steady leadership during this transition and to help set the next superintendent up for success. I’ll do this by listening closely to staff, families, students, and community members, and by working in strong partnership with the school board to help ensure the district’s strategic plan and shared values continue to guide our work. The board plays an important role in setting direction and supporting progress, and I value the thoughtful collaboration we’ve built as we move Edina Public Schools forward together.

My leadership style is collaborative, supportive, and communicative — grounded in courage, service, and a belief that every child deserves to be given the opportunities they need to grow and thrive.

I hold a Doctorate and Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education from the University of Minnesota Duluth, with concentrations in Spanish, psychology, and coaching.
