2022 School Board Special Election
Special election Tuesday, Nov. 8 to fill vacant seat
Edina voters will go to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022, to elect a candidate to fulfill the remaining term of former board member Leny Wallen-Friedman.
Wallen-Friedman resigned from the Edina School Board May 31, 2022, to relocate out-of-state. The Board approved David Goldstein as an interim member of the board. Following the Nov. 8 special election, the elected candidate will replace Goldstein and fulfill the remaining term of that seat, which expires Dec. 31, 2023.
How To Vote
To vote in this election, you must be a resident living within the school district boundaries. Some Edina residences are not within district boundaries, and some addresses in neighboring communities are. Check the Minnesota Secretary of State Polling Place Finder if you have questions.
Register to Vote
You must be a registered voter to be eligible to vote in this election. You may register to vote at your polling place on election day. For more information about registering to vote, visit the Minnesota Secretary of State Register to Vote website.
Absentee and early voting will take place from Friday, September 23 through Monday, November 7. All absentee and early voting will occur at Edina City Hall. Find more information about how to obtain an absentee ballot and/or vote early on the City of Edina website.
Where to Vote on Election Day
Aug. 2 - Aug. 16
The candidacy filing period for persons interested in running for election to the Edina School Board will open Tuesday, Aug. 2, and close Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 5 p.m. A notarized Affidavit of Candidacy form must be filed within that time period in the office of the school district clerk located in room 336 of the District Office, along with a $2 filing fee.
