Staff hired to support Native American students, families

Two staff members have joined the district to provide targeted leadership and support for Native American students and families. 

Christine Johnson has been hired as the district’s American Indian Education Program consultant. She is currently an American Indian liaison in three other metro area districts. She has also worked as an American Indian Youth Mentor and Program Facilitator with Equity Alliance. Johnson’s role at EPS will include ensuring the district is maximizing available support resources for Edina families.

Carlie Anderson will work as a part time paraprofessional supporting students. She has most recently been working at the Bdote Learning Center as a paraprofessional for the past four years. She is also assigned as a part time paraprofessional at Highlands Elementary.

These positions are funded with a combination of American Indian Education Aid, and Achievement and Integration funds through the State of Minnesota.
