Six candidates file for election to School Board

This fall, Edina school district voters will elect four from a slate of six School Board candidates. At the close of the filing period, the following community members had filed affidavits of candidacy:

  • Erica Allenburg
  • Dan Arom
  • Michael Birdman
  • Karen Gabler
  • Owen Michaelson
  • Nicole Schnell

The Edina School Board is made up of seven citizens elected at large by voters in the district. Members are elected to four-year overlapping terms, with elections held every two years. At the end of a four-year term, members may run for re-election to successive terms.

Voters will have the opportunity to  learn more about the candidates at two forums. On Thursday, Sept. 23, the League of Women Voters Edina will host a candidate forum at Edina City Hall, 7 -9 p.m. A forum on Tuesday, Oct. 12, will be hosted by the Parent Leadership Council of Edina schools in Room 348 at the Edina Community Center, 10-11 a.m.

Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 2. The newly elected will begin their terms on the Board the first Monday in January 2022.
