School Safety Conversation: A Collaborative Effort
Ensuring the safety and security of students and staff is a top priority. Over the past several months, the school district conducted a comprehensive review of safety and security protocols, culminating in a plan that was presented to the School Board on August 14, 2023. A key component of this plan involves engaging with the Edina Public Schools community in a meaningful dialogue.
Edina Public Schools parents, guardians, and staff are invited to a, "School Safety Conversation," on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 6 p.m. The event will take place at the Fick Auditorium, located at Edina High School (6754 Valley View Rd, Edina, MN 55439).
Panel Discussion on Collaborative Safety
This event aims to shed light on how various community agencies work together to ensure the safety of students within the school environment and provide an overview of district safety and security protocols. Key community figures, including police, fire, school, and city officials, will participate in a panel discussion.
The panelists from Edina Public Schools include:
- Dr. Stacie Stanley, Edina Public Schools Superintendent
- Natasha Monsaas-Daly, Director of Media & Technology Services
- Jody Remsing, Director of Student Support Services
- Daphne Edwards, Director of Marketing & Communications
Panelists from the City of Edina include:
- James Hovland, Mayor
- Scott Neal, City Manager
- Todd Milburn, Edina Police Chief
- Andrew Slama, Edina Fire Chief
