School Board approves settlement agreement dismissing lawsuit filed by Young Conservatives Club

At a special meeting on March 1, the Edina School Board approved a recommended settlement agreement for a lawsuit brought in December by the Edina High School Young Conservatives Club. The settlement stipulates the agreement by the Plaintiffs and the District to dismiss the lawsuit, with the District admitting no wrongdoing and no requirement of payment.

“The District did nothing wrong in this case, and has at all times complied with applicable laws,” said the District’s attorney, Trevor Helmers. “I am recommending that you approve this agreement tonight, thus putting an end to this litigation once and for all.”

After a closed session to discuss the proposal, the Board unanimously approved the settlement agreement.
