School Board approves 2019-20 calendar, adjustments to current year

At its Feb. 1 regular meeting, the Edina School Board approved the school year calendar for 2019-20. Key points on the calendar include a school start date of Aug. 26 for all grade 1-12 students, with kindergarten beginning the following day. There will be a two-week winter break and spring break falling on March 23-27. The last day of school will be May 29. The Board approved the calendar for the 2018-19 school year at its December meeting. Both calendars can be found on the district calendar web page.

Additionally, the Board approved an adjustment to the current school year calendar for four district schools. Due to a tight summer construction schedule, the last day of school for Highlands and Creek Valley elementary schools, and South View and Valley View middle schools is moved to Thursday, June 7. This provides staff at these four buildings a day (June 8) to pack classrooms and prepare for construction, which will begin June 9. The last day for all other schools will remain Friday, June 8.
