Sailer named district Human Resources Director

Edina Public Schools is pleased to announce the hiring of Sonya Sailer as Director of Human Resources (HR). Sailer is currently HR director at Waconia Public Schools, a position she has held for nearly 14 years.

In her current position, Sailer oversees all aspects of recruitment, selection, and orientation processes for the Waconia district, working to attract, hire and retain top talent. She manages selection and administration of insurance benefit programs, and serves as the district’s chief contract negotiator for all employee groups. She is a founding and current member of the Waconia district’s Cultural Competency Committee.

Sailer is the current president of the Minnesota Association of School Personnel Administrators. She is an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota, responsible for developing, organizing, and teaching the Leaders in Human Resources Administration course to future school leaders. She is a licensed Minnesota attorney with extensive knowledge of state and federal law.

Sailer holds a bachelor's degree in marketing management from Concordia University, St. Paul, and a juris doctor from William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul. She will begin her duties in Edina Public Schools on Feb. 22.
