Normandale student places first in international piano competition

Kate Hibbs, 3rd grader at Normandale Elementary, won first prize at the Little Mozart International Piano Competition 2022 at Carnegie Hall, in New York City. She played Mozart Sonata in C major, K. 330.

Hibbs started playing piano at 4 years old and has had a successful season at international competitions. She won first prize at the 2022 International Music Competition ‘Salzburg’ Grand Prize Virtuoso, earning her a spot to perform at the Solitär Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria this summer. She placed first at the Global Children and Youth Piano Competition, Hong Kong, and second at the American Protégé International Music Talent Competition, the Frost Young Artists International Piano Competition, Miami, and the International Grand Music Competition 2022, New York.
