National Board Certification awarded to EHS teacher

Katrina Stern is the latest Edina Public Schools teacher to achieve National Board Certification, an advanced credential that indicates teaching excellence. Stern, in her third year with the district, is a science teacher at EHS. National Board Certification is the highest credential available to American educators and is presented through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.

National Board Certification is achieved through a rigorous, performance-based, peer-reviewed assessment of a teacher's pedagogical skills and content knowledge. Teachers must submit videos of their teaching, provide samples of their student’s work that demonstrate academic growth, and analyze their own teaching against student needs. Stern joins a growing group of Edina educators and staff specialists who have reached certification -- 53 in all.
