2 EHS students receive Global STEM scholarship
Kawthar Benarouch and Carmela Cadja, both EHS 10th graders, have been selected as scholarship recipients for the 2022 AFS Global STEM Academy in India. They are two of 113 students currently in the Edina Rotary Global Scholars program at EHS.
The AFS Global STEM Academies are full-scholarship, STEM and sustainability-focused intercultural exchange programs for teens (age 15-17) from more than 14 countries worldwide. The Academies consist of two parts: an innovative virtual exchange curriculum (online) and an immersive, hands-on travel experience (in person). Benarouch and Cadja will spend four weeks in India this summer where they will participate in real-life case studies on STEM and sustainability, and develop skills needed to advance a sustainable future.
The Edina Rotary Global Scholars program is a learning pathway at Edina High School. It partners with two Edina Rotary clubs and the Edina Education Fund to provide students with opportunities to work with students from other countries on projects that have global impact. Students receive mentoring, leadership training and support. Completion of this pathway is recognized at graduation.
