Edina Virtual Pathway Hosts Inaugural Minnesota Online Educators Summit
Edina Virtual Pathway proudly hosted the first annual Minnesota Online Educators Summit last month, bringing together education professionals from 21 different districts across the state. The summit aimed to foster collaboration and share expertise to enhance educational opportunities for students in virtual learning environments.
Ninety educators, counselors, and administrative professionals participated in the summit. Attendees exchanged insights, strategies, and innovative ideas to address the unique challenges and opportunities presented by virtual teaching.
Steven Cullison, Supervisor of Edina Virtual Pathway, expressed his gratitude for the enthusiastic participation, stating, "Thank you to all who contributed to making this gathering a success. It's heartening to see educators coming together to exchange knowledge and support each other in our shared mission of providing quality education in online settings."
Teaching in a virtual environment presents distinct challenges, and the summit provided a valuable platform for participants to address these challenges collaboratively. Cullison remarked, "As a leader of an online school, I’ve appreciated opportunities to compare notes with administrators for other online programs. Other educators in an online setting don’t have a similar opportunity. Frequently, an online teacher of a subject may be the only one who teaches that class in their school. An online attendance clerk or counselor may, similarly, not have a job-alike counterpart with whom to collaborate."
Participant feedback reflected the success of the summit, with one attendee stating, "Thank you, Steven, for a well-rounded and indeed informative e-gathering today! I gained many new insights and ideas I hope to implement here... I look forward to participating again next year!"
Edina Virtual Pathway looks forward to building on the success of this inaugural summit and continuing to facilitate meaningful connections and exchanges among online educators across the state.
