District hires Director of Business Services

Edina Public Schools is pleased to announce the hiring of Mert Woodard, SFO as the next Director of Business Services. He brings eight years of experience in areas of school finance. 

Woodard has been director of business services in the Wayzata district since 2020. Prior to that he worked in several areas of school finance for the Minneapolis district with increasing responsibility, including accounting and finance manager, senior accountant, and budget analyst. In these positions he has provided leadership for the full range of financial responsibilities including, financial reporting, budget planning, debt management, audit coordination, accounting and payroll. Woodard has worked closely with the citizen finance advisory council, as well as providing guidance to department directors or managers.

Woodard holds a bachelor of science degree in business from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management, and a masters of business administration from Saint Mary’s University. He also holds certifications by the Association of School Business Officials, the Association of Government Accountants, The Minnesota Association of School Business Officials, and expects certification later this year by the Government Finance Officers Association. Woodard has been a presenter at state and national school finance conferences.

Woodard will begin his tenure with Edina Public Schools on July 1.
