District, Board seeks community members to serve on advisory councils

Would you like to get involved in the work of Edina Public Schools (EPS)? The district is looking for parents, students, staff, and community members who would like to serve on one of several committees, councils, and advisory teams to provide input, advice, direction, and insight to district leadership.

Stakeholder engagement is vital to the work of the district, and district advisory positions include membership on various teaching and learning, finance, and leadership subcommittees, councils, teams, and task forces. The district uses the advisory council model to help shape district policies, procedures, and practices.

Current openings on district advisory councils include the Gifted District Advisory Committee, Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC), Student Wellness Committee, and the Technology Advisory Team. Membership terms on EPS advisory committees, councils and teams vary from one to three years.

Additionally, there are openings on two committees of the Edina School Board, including the Finance and Facilities committee, and the newly created non-partisan Legislative Action Committee, which is seeking seven to nine community members who live within the Edina Public Schools district boundaries.

Individuals interested in serving on a district advisory council or School Board committee may complete an online application to be considered. Visit edinaschools.org/advisory-councils to apply or learn more about district committees, councils and teams.

The deadline for applications is May 30, 2018.
