District announces new human resources director

Edina Public Schools is pleased to announce the hiring of Nicole Tuescher as Director of Human Resources/Administrative Services. Tuescher brings 12 years of public school HR experience, including six years in EPS.

Tuescher’s career spans a variety of experience within the field of education. She began her career as a social studies teacher in Blaine, Minn., and also taught at a military school and elementary school in Guam, and a high school in California. After completing her law degree from Hamline University School of Law, Tuescher worked for four years as an attorney with a private education law firm on issues related to students, employment law, compliance, and policy matters. Tuescher was HR manager in Edina Public Schools for six years before accepting the Executive Director of HR position in the Anoka-Hennepin School District. As an HR professional, she has experience in contract negotiation, developing evaluation systems, oversight of licensure systems, and professional development for employee groups.

Tuescher holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Thomas in social studies and secondary education; a masters in educational policy and administration from the University of Minnesota; a juris doctorate from Hamline University School of Law; and is currently a doctoral candidate at the U of M.

"I am excited to return to serve the Edina community,” said Tuescher, who is an Edina resident and parent in the district. “Our district has a strong commitment to its students, its employees, and its community to which I look forward to being a component, and I look forward to supporting our employees and students on their educational journeys."

Tuescher will begin her work in Edina on July 1. She assumes duties currently fulfilled by Assistant Superintendent Bryan Bass, who was recently named President at DeLaSalle High School and will leave EPS at the end of the school year.
