Concord and Highlands Elementary Schools Selected for Minnesota Zoo's STEM Design Challenge Exhibition
Concord and Highlands Elementary Schools have been chosen for this year's ZOOMS STEM Design Challenge Exhibition at the Minnesota Zoo. The event is scheduled to take place this week on Wednesday, March 6 and Thursday, March 7.
Over 250 submissions from 39 schools were submitted this year. A total of 11 projects were selected across the two Edina schools out of 134 finalists in the state.
The ZOOMS STEM Design Challenge, presented by Flint Hills Resources, is a year-long project that challenges students from elementary, middle, and high schools across Minnesota to develop innovative solutions for real zoo-based scenarios. Through this initiative, students harness their creativity, math, science, and engineering skills to address challenges faced by the zoo. This year, our students have focused on designing solutions for the bison and black-tailed prairie dogs, which are visible from the new Treetop Trail at the Minnesota Zoo.
Student presentations to esteemed judges will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by an awards ceremony from 1:45 to 2:15 p.m. Winners of the program will be announced on Friday, March 8th, on the Minnesota Zoo's ZOOMS exhibition webpage: https://mnzoo.org/zooms-stem-challenge/
