Board seeks interested community members for interim position
The Edina School Board is seeking community members, specifically former School Board members, who wish to be considered for an interim position on the School Board. The selected individual will temporarily fill the Board position vacated by Leny Wallen-Friedman until an election is held on Nov. 8.
At its work session on May 17, the Board determined content for a questionnaire to gather information from interested school district residents, and also a rubric to be used when considering the applicants. The rubric is tiered according to priority considerations for the position, emphasizing previous school board experience and a level of understanding in areas of district finances and legal issues, two areas of expertise that Wallen-Friedman brought to his position on the board.
The interim member will be a full board member beginning in July (at the earliest) and serving until ballots from the Nov. 8 election are canvassed and certified. The Board Governance Committee will use the priority rubric to determine final candidates, and bring their interest forms to the full Board for discussion and approval at a May 31 special meeting.
