Board appoints Goldstein as interim member
The Edina School Board has approved the appointment of David Goldstein as an interim member of the board. The Governance Committee of the board reviewed five applications for the position, using criteria and a rubric approved by the board earlier. Of the five applicants, two had previous experience on the school board which was a priority criteria.
Goldstein was a member of the school board from 2014-2018. During his tenure he served as board treasurer and as chair of the Finance Committee. As a private practice attorney, Goldstein has represented school districts and also served on multiple non-profit boards.
State statute requires a 30-day waiting period until an appointed interim board member can be sworn in and be seated. The interim position will be in place until November when voters will elect a candidate to fulfill the remaining term of departing board member Leny Wallen Friedman.
