Community members may run for election to the school board. Members are elected by Edina voters and serve four-year, overlapping terms, with elections held every two years. If you are interested in public education and community service, we encourage you to consider running.

How to Become a Candidate
Community members interested in running for the school board must complete the official filing process and meet state requirements to appear on the ballot. An overview of key steps is provided below.
File for Candidacy
Submit an Affidavit of Candidacy with the school district clerk during the filing period.
Pay the Filing Fee
Pay the $2 fee or petition-in-lieu due with each affidavit during the filing period.
File Finance Reports
File finance reports if contributions or disbursements exceed $750 in a calendar year.
Start Term if Elected
Begin serving a four-year term following election certification and board organization.
