About the Internship

We’re seeking a creative, motivated, and detail-oriented Web Communications Intern to join our team during the 2026–27 school year. This internship is designed to provide Edina High School students with hands-on experience in web communications, with approximately 80% of the role focused on website content and user experience.

This is a part-time, hybrid position paying $15/hour. Start and end dates are flexible, and interns can expect to work 10–20 hours per week. There will also be opportunities to attend district events as your schedule allows.

Responsibilities

Web Communications (80%)

• Assist with website updates and content maintenance across district and school websites
• Write, edit, and optimize web content for clarity, accessibility, and search
• Review pages from a user perspective and recommend improvements to navigation, organization, and user flow; Help organize and structure information so families can find what they need quickly
• Review web pages for accuracy, consistency, broken links, and outdated information
• Apply accessibility best practices, including headings, links, images, and page structure
• Help gather and organize content for new and updated web pages
• Use website analytics and other available data to help inform content and user experience improvements

Other Communications (20%)

• Create and schedule social media posts as needed
• Support photography at school events as schedule allows
• Draft or assist with press releases, newsletter content, and other communications
• Share the student perspective during team meetings
• Collect data, stories, and content ideas for newsletters, social media, Niche, and other communications channels

Qualifications

• Strong interest in web communications, writing, journalism, marketing, digital media, or a related field
• Strong writing and editing skills, with an ability to write clearly and concisely for different audiences
• Interest in how people find, read, and navigate information online
• Ability to think from a user’s perspective and identify ways to make information clearer or easier to find
• Strong attention to detail and an interest in organizing information
• Creative, curious, and eager to learn new tools and approaches
• Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Comfortable working with websites, social media, or other digital platforms
• Familiarity with basic web accessibility or SEO principles is a plus, but not required
• Experience with photography, graphic design, or video editing is a plus, but not required
• Access to a computer and reliable Wi-Fi

Interview Process

Selected applicants will be invited to a 45-minute interview with the Marketing and Communications Department.

Interviews will be held on:

• Tuesday, Sept. 29: 3:30–5 p.m.
• Thursday, Oct. 1: 3:30–5 p.m.
