Unified Students Sign Honorary One-Day Contracts with the Minnesota Lynx

Ten Unified students from South View Middle School got to experience what it feels like to be a professional athlete when they signed honorary one-day contracts with the Minnesota Lynx as members of the 2026 Jr. Lynx Dream Team.

The day was made possible through a partnership between the Minnesota Lynx, Special Olympics Minnesota, and UnitedHealthcare, celebrating inclusion through sports.

The experience began with a press conference, where each student signed their contracts before taking part in a media day photo shoot wearing their Jr. Lynx jerseys. They toured the Lynx practice facility, designed custom tote bags, and stepped onto the court to practice basketball alongside the Minnesota Lynx players.

Passing, shooting, and sharing the court with the WNBA players gave our students a chance to build confidence, make memories, and experience the joy of the game in a truly unforgettable way.

"Today was the best day ever," one student shared.

On Monday, July 6, 2026, the Jr. Lynx Dream Team will return to the court to be recognized during halftime as the Minnesota Lynx take on the Connecticut Sun at Target Center. A heartfelt thank you to the Minnesota Lynx, Special Olympics Minnesota, and UnitedHealthcare for creating an incredible experience for our students.
