• Suddenly withdrawing from friends, family, and activities (including online or via social media)
• Bullying, especially if targeted towards differences in race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation
• Excessive irritability, lack of patience, or becoming angry quickly
• Experiencing chronic loneliness or social isolation
• Expressing persistent thoughts of harming themselves or someone else
• Making direct threats toward a place, another person, or themselves
• Bragging about access to guns or weapons
• Recruiting accomplices or audiences for an attack
• Obsession with online violent content, mass shooters, or weapons
• Cruelty to animals

Showing one of these signs doesn’t always mean someone will be violent. If you’re worried about troubling behavior, talk to a trusted adult or say something by making an anonymous report.

• Talking about wanting to die, be dead, or suicide, or they are cutting or burning themselves.
• Feeling like things may never get better, seeming like they are in terrible emotional pain (like something is wrong deep inside but they can’t make it go away), or they are struggling to deal with a big loss in their life.
• Your gut is telling you to be worried because they have withdrawn, become more anxious or on edge, seem unusually angry, or just don’t seem “normal” to you.

Showing one of these signs doesn’t always mean someone will commit suicide. If you’re worried about troubling behavior, talk to a trusted adult or say something by making an anonymous report.
 

After submitting your tip:

• A Crisis Counselor reviews your information and replies to your tip with a private chat message.
• You chat anonymously with the Crisis Counselor and answer any follow-up questions.
• The Crisis Counselor lets you know once they’ve gathered all the information they need.
• If you learn any new information, you can come back to your tip’s chat later and update your Crisis Counselor.
