Reunification

Reuniting With Your Child During or After an Emergency

In certain situations, families may be asked to pick up their student through a controlled release process called reunification. This may happen during events like severe weather, a power outage, or another emergency at the school. The district uses the Standard Reunification Method to keep the process safe, organized, and predictable for students and families.

Because this is not a typical dismissal, reunification may take place at a different location than your child’s school.

When Reunification May Be Used

Reunification is used to safely bring you and your child back together following an emergency. This process is carefully organized to keep students safe and make sure they are released to the right adult. Situations that may require reunification include:

  • Severe Weather
  • Power Outage
  • Hazardous Material (hazmat)
  • School Crisis or Emergency
