Christine, AKA "Hanny" is thrilled to be joining the Hornet Girls Bball Staff! Christine graduated from Eden Prairie High School in 2003. She played soccer and basketball for the Eagles (battling the above Jaime Chapman in conference/ section match-ups) and spent probably too much time super-fanning for the football team (including the above Jared Chapman!). She graduated from the University of Iowa with an Elementary Education degree. Christine currently works in the Shakopee School district, teaching math. During her summers she is the Specialty Camp Director at YMCA Camp Kici Yapi. Hanny is also the Assistant Varsity Girls Lacrosse coach at Edina and an Assistant Coach for the Shakopee Cross Country team.
Ben Fleming is the new ninth grade girls basketball coach at Edina. He is a 2007 Edina alum and played two years of varsity basketball under Coach Pat Dorsey. Outside of basketball, he received a full tuition four year music scholarship at Bemidji State University and graduated with a B.S. in Instrumental Music Education and a B.A. in Trombone Performance. Additionally, he was both a busy piano soloist and accompanist. After a half year of substitute teaching at Edina in 2012, Ben accepted a two year assistantship at North Dakota State where he was the assistant jazz band director for the NDSU Jazz 1 and also taught an undergraduate music methods class. He recently completed his Master’s degree in trombone performance in the spring of 2014. During his college years, Ben had been an occasional private basketball instructor for Kevin Kelley at Minnesota Developmental Basketball and spent some time working with the Edina boys sophomore basketball team during portions of the 2012-2013 season under Coach Matt Johnson. Today, Ben is currently one of the everyday substitute teachers at Edina High School and is continuously looking for a full time band director position in the Twin Cities area, hoping eventually to wind up in Edina.
