MDH revised safety protocols for school transportation in December 2020:EPS

Before your student boards the bus…

    • Families will screen for coronavirus at home before student boards the bus. (See link at right.)
    • Students will wear face coverings and practice social distancing at bus stops.

    On the bus...

    • There will be 6 feet of distance between the driver and riders, meaning some seats will not be available for riders.
    • Seating will be assigned for all riders to assist with contact tracing when a COVID-positive person is found to have riden the bus. (See the quarantine chart at right.) Riders are to remain in their assigned seat for the entire ride.
    • Seating will be assigned with the goal of creating as much space between riders as possible, recognizing that it is not always feasible to have 6 feet of social distance.
    • Students and drivers will wear cloth face coverings while on the bus.
    • Some windows will remain open for increased air circulation (weather permitting)

    Between routes…

    • Bus seats, rails, grab handles, seat belts, windows will be cleaned between routes.
    • An electrostatic sprayer (“fogger”) will be used to disinfect each bus between AM and PM runs, and again at the end of the day.

Please note: Plexiglass shields between the driver and the door were considered, however the Minnesota State Highway Patrol does not allow plexiglass barriers on school buses due to safety concerns.
