Funding for this program comes from a grant under the Federal Government's Title VI authorization and from the Minnesota Department of Education's World's Best Workforce initiative.
American Indian Parent Advisory Committee (AIPAC)
The American Indian Education Program includes a Parent Committee, which is made up of parents of American Indian students in the district. We welcome new faces and encourage collaboration to achieve a thriving community to help us support our native children and community.
The goals of this committee are:
- That all American Indian students are ready for kindergarten
- That all American Indian students are achieving 3rd grade literacy
- To close the achievement gap for American Indian students
- That all American Indian students are attaining career and college readiness
- That all American Indian students are graduating from high school

May 15, 2019 - Edina High School (EHS) senior Andrea Richardson received the 2019 Rose Rees Peace Award from the National Council of Jewish Women – Minnesota (NCJW) at a ceremony on May 1. Given to 25 students from local high schools each year, the award honors “exceptional high school seniors who have demonstrated a commitment to service, advocacy, community and peace.”
"Voices" from the Spring Experience, 2019 - Three EHS seniors shared their Native American culture with indigenous educators and students from around the globe at a conference in Auckland, New Zealand. They gave a presentation and visited Maori homelands and schools, adding to their own education about indigenous cultures. Here are some of their reflections on the trip, in their own words.
May 15, 2018 - Three Edina High School (EHS) juniors participated in a semester-long journey through places and beliefs that their ancestors knew well.
June 7, 2017 - Four Edina High School (EHS) seniors were presented eagle feathers with their diplomas at commencement on June 5, honoring their Native American ancestry and culture.
