Early Releases and Late Starts
Early release and late start days provide critical collaboration time that allows teachers to customize learning experiences for each student. Scheduling these days throughout the school year provides teachers time to analyze student achievement data, collaborate with colleagues and align their instruction for maximum student learning.
On early release and late start days, schools dismiss two hours earlier or start two hours later than their regularly scheduled time.
District transportation will adjust for the two hour early release and late starts, meaning that on those dates, the bus will drop off students two hours earlier than usual on early release days and pick up students two hours later than usual on late start days.
Edina Community Education Services (CES) invites students to participate in enrichment programs on early release days. CES collaborates with EPS classroom teachers to offer activities that complement what students are learning during the school day.
Current participants in KIDS Club or WISE Guys will receive information about early release and late start day options in their registration packets.
Elementary students can enroll in enrichment programs at their home elementary school for any or all of the early release days.

Early Learning Center classes that end after 12:05 p.m. on early release days, or begin before 12 p.m. on late start days, will be cancelled.
