      The Glencoe Literature Library features brief summaries of a number of novels and plays along with companion short stories and poems to use with the study of the listed works. By clicking on the titles listed on this site, the teacher will find a study guide that contains reproducible activity pages for student use. Sample items from the study guides include: vocabulary words, writing assignments and active reading ideas.
    • NCTE Orbis Pictus Nonfiction Award
      This site lists the winners of the NCTE Orbis Pictus Nonfiction Awards from 1990-Present. These books are appropriate for classrooms as a way to build background knowledge and/or supplement district materials in the areas of science, social studies, art, etc. The books “appeal to a wide range of ages and share interesting and timely subject matter. They also encourage thinking and model exemplary expository writing and research skills.”

    • Edina High School’s NUA Blog
      This blog features a collection of culturally responsive reading, writing and thinking strategies that Edina High School teachers have used successfully in their classrooms. The strategies were learned through Edina’s five-year partnership with the National Urban Alliance (NUA).
    • Education World: 9-12 Literature and Poetry
      This website includes a variety of reading lists as well as a link to three youth Online magazines. The searchable poetry databases allow teachers to find the full text of poems by sorting by author, title, and theme. The links for myths and fables give teachers access to the full text of a number of famous myths from around the world.
