With a smile and passion, Cornwell eager to serve students, families and staff as Valley View’s new assistant principal
Edina Public Schools (EPS) proudly announces the hiring of Elizabeth (Beth) Cornwell as the new assistant principal of Valley View Middle School. Cornwell, who currently serves as the school’s Dean of Students, replaces Craig Jensen, who is retiring at the end of the school year.
The snoring dog is the first clue that this is not an ordinary 7th grade classroom. It’s the sunroom at Sophia Doebbert’s home, which is her classroom for about half of the school year. It looks like mission control, with Sophia at the center of an arc of computer screens, her motorized wheelchair temporarily in “park.” Winston, the dog, is sleeping noisily on her lap, but Sophia is alert and working hard.
When students get to middle school, there is new responsibility in the form of technology, namely the fact that students use their own devices. With that added responsibility comes an added risk of cracked screens and other related mishaps. At Valley View and South View middle schools, students don’t have to go far to find help when those problems occur.
