I would like to sincerely welcome you to the *library* at Normandale Elementary French Immersion School! We call it a Media Center because the library at school these days is about books, and so much more!
I have been at Normandale in the past as a French Immersion teacher in 1st grade and an English Language Arts Specialist in 3rd grade. I have also been a classroom teacher, language arts and reading specialist, and technology instructional coach in Eden Prairie schools. I am glad to have found my way back to the Normandale family again!
I learned French when I studied in Caen, France and as a Peace Corps volunteer in Mali, West Africa. I have also chaperoned students to Bordeaux and hosted many French students in our home. I have an undergraduate degree in International Studies and French. I completed my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I think I should also get a degree of 'what the kids teach you', because that is a thing that comes each and every day with students.
I have two teenage daughters that keep me busy with their competitive dance, part time jobs, full time friends, school and volunteer activities. I love to practice yoga, participate in Sidewalk Talk Twin Cities, and chase after our rescue newfie/great pyr mutt named Pepper.
I hope to encourage a love of reading with our youngest readers. I want to help our upper grades to discover a curiosity about the challenging and interesting world we live in, with the many stories, multiple perspectives and experiences of others. I believe that children are as magical as dragons and I delight in their presence.
