If you live in an area that is eligible for school bus transportation, visit the district's Transportation Services website for information about safety and behavior guidelines, Frequently Asked Questions and more.
Drop off/Pick Up Information
If you drive your student to or from school, please view the Car Line Procedure Video for Parents. Following these guidelines will help keep everyone safe during busy, high traffic times around our school.
Because of the shortage of bicycle parking and safety concerns, only students in grades 3 through 5 are permitted to ride their bicycles to school. The bicycle racks are located in the corner of the playground. All bikes must be parked in the bike corral.
Walkers and In-Line Skaters
Most students who live seven-tenths of a mile or less from school walk to school. Some students who live on bus routes choose to walk or use in-line skates. In-line skates may be ridden to/from school but are NOT to be worn in or during school. Other shoes must be worn during the school day. Skateboards are NOT to be brought to school.
Highlands Safety Patrol is a service activity open to all fifth grade students. They provide crossing supervision at street corners near the school and are under the direction of a teacher and paraprofessional. Participants are usually scheduled for a week at a time, rotating on a three week schedule. They must arrive early or stay late in order to provide this service. When the air temperature is -20 degrees or the Wind Chill Index is -30 degrees, we will not send the safety patrols out due to concerns for their safety.
