Meet Principal Katie Mahoney
Welcome to Highlands Elementary School
My name is Katie Mahoney, as principal of Highlands Elementary school. I am excited to be here in Edina and a part of this wonderful Highlands community. I have my Educational Specialist degree from the University of St. Thomas in Educational Leadership. My M.ED is in Early Childhood Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. Prior to joining Edina Public Schools I was principal at WestWood Elementary/SAGE Academy in Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools. I was the assistant principal at Earle Brown Elementary School in Brooklyn Center and a teacher for 7 years in kindergarten and fifth grade here at Highlands Elementary School. I began my teaching career in New Hampshire and Massachusetts before my family moved to Minnesota in 2006.
I live in Minneapolis with my husband and three children, Tom (22 years old), Molly (20), Nora (12). Tom and Molly both attend college, Tufts University and University of MN. When not at work I enjoy hanging out with my family, reading, running, snowboarding and hiking.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me either by phone or e-mail. You can also check out Highlands Facebook page,@HLHappenings and follow us on Twitter, @Highlands_ELEM. I update with current happenings at Highlands frequently.
We look forward to your next visit to Highlands!
