• Lisa Masica head shot Meet Lisa Masica, Principal

    Welcome to Cornelia Elementary!

Edina is a wonderful community dedicated to the youth that attend all of our schools.  I feel so fortunate to be the principal of Cornelia Elementary and a part of Edina Public Schools.  Cornelia is a very special school that is grounded in collaborative relationships, community involvement, and highly successful academic programs.  The staff is extremely dedicated to the mission of Edina Public Schools.

“The mission of the Edina Public Schools, working in partnership with the family and the community, is to educate all individuals to be responsible, lifelong learners who possess the skills, knowledge, creativity, self-worth, and ethical values necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing, culturally diverse, global society.”

Cornelia works together as a staff to create an environment where students develop skills to become caring, compassionate individuals.  We celebrate the rich diversity of our families, knowing that it broadens our perspective on both our local and global community, strengthens our ability to learn, and better prepares us for the 21st century.  Close collaborative relationships are the cornerstone of all we do at Cornelia.  We use our CARES program to support our students’ social development and to create school-wide goals and expectations.  We also know that education is a team effort and the support we receive from our families and broader community make our school a true partnership.

Academic success is also at the forefront of what makes Cornelia a wonderful place for your family.  Edina is well known for its academic achievement.  We take pride in providing students with outstanding personalized learning, support, intervention, and advancement.  We believe all students can achieve great things with the right amount of support.

I began my career here, in Edina, as a classroom teacher after receiving both a Bachelor of Science in Child Psychology and a Master of Education in Elementary Education.  I went on to pursue an Education Specialist degree in School Administration at the University of St. Thomas.  Prior to Cornelia, I served as an Associate Principal in Eden Prairie.  The 2014-2015 school year was my first year as principal at Cornelia and I look forward to serving the students, staff, and families who have chosen to educate their children here.

Building strong relationships with Cornelia staff, students, and families is always a main focus of mine so please come in and introduce yourself sometime so I can get to know you better!
